The Faust Hotel and Brew Company is a historic boutique hotel located in downtown New Braunfels, Texas. Connected to the lobby is a brewpub with great beer and food. This is a great place to stay while in the New Braunfels, TX or Texas Hill Country area. You might even have to put up with some ghosts!!
We stayed 2 nights while traveling through Texas Hill Country. This was our first destination in the epic Texas Hill Country trip. The Faust Hotel turned out to be a great place to jump off and explore New Braunfels but also the surrounding areas.
In the post, I’ll talk about the deep history of the hotel, and the beautiful lobby, rooms, historical recognitions, location and the Brewpub. I’ve also included a section on the ghosts that inhabit the building.
This was a great place to stay and highly recommend it to you if staying in the New Braunfels, TX area.
Location
The Faust Hotel is located at 240 S Seguin Ave, New Braunfels, TX 78130. It’s a 5-minute drive from Schlitterbahn New Braunfels Waterpark and the historic district.
History
The hotel was completed in 1929 and opened two weeks before the stock market crash. It was once known as the Travelers Hotel.
The hotel was built on land donated by Senator Joseph Faust’s estate, and was renamed in 1936 to honor the family. The four-story masonry building has some Spanish Renaissance Revival detailing. It has been renovated several times, and is one of the few mid-rise hotels from its era that is still operating as a hotel.

The Lobby
The Faust Hotel lobby was beautiful and clearly portrays a building with lots of history and character. Let’s take a quick look at the lobby.
Rooms
The Faust Hotel in New Braunfels, Texas has 67 rooms, including suites and standard rooms. The rooms are decorated in unique styles and feature original artwork. The rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, coffee and tea making facilities, and free Wi-Fi. Some suites have sitting areas and extra bathrooms.
Ghosts
The Faust hotel is reportedly haunted. There have been multiple reports of children playing and giggling at night on the second floor toward the end of the hallway near rooms 215 and 217. The Ghost of Mr. Faust, the building’s namesake, can also be heard and seen moving around at night.
The Brew pub is reportedly haunted as well as there have been occasions when glasses just jump off the shelf and break with nobody within 15 feet of the shelf.
It’s always fun to stay at a hotel where there may be some ghosts around!!
Historical Recognition
The Faust Hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places, is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, and is a New Braunfels Historic Landmark.
The Brew Company
Current owners Vance Hinton and his partners bought the hotel in 2009 and restored the rooms and reopened the brewery. It’s a great location to eat and enjoy some beverages after a day out exploring New Braunfels and surrounding areas.
